CET—A Champion for Hardworking Immigrants
We call the United States of America the land of opportunity. Here, anyone who is willing to put in the hard work and effort can achieve their goals and become successful. A large part of that success is finding a good, stable career pathway that can support you and your family.
So how do you take that first step towards the career you want? Some people think the answer is a university education, and that works for them. But that amount of time and expense simply isn’t feasible for everyone. Don’t worry—it’s not the only way.
A job training program can help you develop critical skills and certifications that will make you stand out as a job applicant so you can start building your future. These programs are much more affordable and require less time than a traditional college degree. And if you don’t have a high school diploma or GED, these opportunities are still open to you, too. There are a variety of programs, including business, culinary arts, construction trades, and healthcare, to suit many interests and skillsets. At CET, anyone can build a brighter future for themselves. And that includes immigrants.
For immigrants, that path to success can be even more difficult and complicated. CET is here to help.
CET believes in self-determination. We work to help people who are trying to improve their lives by gaining skills and working toward fulfilling careers. Part of that work includes helping immigrants through the immigration process.
The process of immigrating to the United States and becoming a citizen can be daunting. In some cases, the entire process from arrival to citizenship can take many years and require extensive paperwork, as well as multiple fees that add up quickly.
CET helps immigrants through this process to make it as smooth as possible.
In San Jose, CA CET’s Immigration and Citizenship Program offers immigrants legal services, such as assistance completing forms and filing with the US Citizenship and Immigration Services. The program also provides non-legal services such as language services and citizenship classes to further help immigrants on their path to citizenship. All of these services are available in both English and Spanish, to ensure they are accessible to as many people who need them as possible. Providing low-cost immigration services to immigrants helps to strengthen civic engagement and build stronger communities.
From the very beginning in 1967, when the first CET job training center was established, CET’s founders were encouraging seasonal farmworkers to build toward permanent placements and better lives. The Immigration & Citizenship Program is another testament to how much CET cares and is committed to uplifting those who just need a little boost to find great success.
The mission to lift people up and help them toward a stronger, brighter future lives on to this day at CET. With affordable prices, varied program offerings, and a dedicated team there to support students at every stage of their journey from application to job placement, CET goes above and beyond to ensure student success.
Opportunities for growth and professional development at CET are open to those ready to put in the necessary work. It’s not about where you start, but rather what you’re working toward.
Immigrants and citizens alike can benefit from CET’s comprehensive program training model with VESL (Vocational English as a Second Language), financial literacy, and basic skills support.
The American dream should be possible for everyone. CET wants to help make that dream come true for you. Learn more about CET’s job training programs here.
